Note:   Due to policy, your stateside driver's license will be surrendered and exchanged for a Korean one.  Your stateside license can be returned when you leave Korea if you bring your passport and airline ticket for verification.   See the web site for more information:

Required Documents (Applicants must be 18 or older.)

  • Three passport-style photographs 3 cm x 4 cm (photo booth available at site)
  • ID Card
  • Stateside driver licence (The license must be a full license. (temporary, provisional, probationary, permit, certificate, or motorcycle license cannot be exchanged) )
  • Original and photocopy of Passport / Visa
  • Orders (Letter of Employment, Assignment Orders, USKF Form 700-19A-E (TR, IC))

   

Fee

  • Physical exam (5,000 won)
  • License (6,000 won)
  • Total (11,000 won)

International Driver's License

Only those who have resided for more than 3 years in Korea can get an international driver's license from Korea.  Your must possess a ROK driver License to apply for the ROK International Driver's License.  See the web site for more information:

Expired Stateside License

In the case of an expired stateside license, both the written test and physical exam are required.

    • Written test (available in English and a PC-based exam may be requested)
    • Physical exam or Road Test (cost 15,000 won in Seoul, but varies depending on location)
